Heroines of the Great Patriotic War

The article is dedicated to the unparalleled feats of labor and military valor performed by Soviet women from the Buryat-Mongol ASSR. The author presents systematic data on the sharp increase in the share of women’s labor across all sectors of the Republic of Buryatia’s economy during the war years. The article highlights the main challenges and hardships faced by women in those difficult wartime conditions. The article also draws on living history materials - Interviews with women who worked on the home front and served at the front lines.
