Gustav shpet as a methodologist of historical knowledge

The paper formulates a task to comprehend today’s significance of the results of Gustav Shpet’s investigation in his work «History as a problem of logic» into the emergence and development of historical knowledge as a science in European philosophy from the beginning of the XVIIIth century up to I. Kant’s debatable ideas. According to Shpet, the logic of history is not a fundamentally new logic, but rather «the same logic, but specified according to the peculiarities of the historical subject».
