The article examines a complex process that was first noted in the works of ethnologists and historians and was called “social hybridization”. Despite the fact that this concept is based on experiments in biology, the laws of social development prove that society often follows its biological principle more actively than the social one. A number of authors even regard globalization as a process that brings humanity closer to the creation of hybrid sociobiotechnical systems. The author proves that regardless of the historical period and place where social hybridization took place, it could be judged by whether a common identity was formed in a given society, or whether its individual parts stubbornly preserved their former self-identities. This indicator of the presence or absence of integral self-identity acts as a political and ideological benchmark for the authorities, society and public opinion leaders who understand the importance of taking actions aimed at consolidating a society with hybrid features, and not at inciting internal conflict in it.
