Hybrid technology in the surgical treatment of atrial septal defects combined with pulmonary artery stenosis

The article describes experience of treatment of atrial septal defects concomitant with pulmonary artery stenosis using a two-step tactics: on the first stage by transluminal balloon valvuloplasty eliminated pulmonary artery stenosis, which created favorable clinical and hemodynamic background and second stage by cardiopulmonary bypass from the right-side thoracotomy closing atrial septal defect. Use this "hybrid” technology has allowed to exclude the specific limitations and complications sternotomy access which led to minimization surgical trauma, good cosmetic results and reduces financial outlay.
