The purpose of the work was to determine hydrochemical indicators for assessing the quality of natural water in the bay of the Sviyaga River for fishery use. Scientific research was carried out at the Department of Biology, Ecology, Parasitology, Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture in Ulyanovsk State Agrarian University. The object of the study was the bay of the Sviyaga River in the Leninsky district of the city of Ulyanovsk. The process of organic pollution of the studied reservoir has been established, as evidenced by the increased level of BPK5, BPK20 and the parameters of COD exceeding several times the normative values. In the studied reservoir, an increased content of heavy metals was also found, which can enter the reservoir together with wastewater, can be washed out of galvanized pipes, or enter the water from ion exchange filters. Thus, when using the studied reservoir for fishery purposes, it is necessary to carry out measures to clean the object from organic and chemical pollutants. This implies, among other things, the control and exclusion of household untreated (sewage) drains from the city of Ulyanovsk into the bay.
