Goethe in Russia

This article is devoted to reviewing the reception which Goethe's works got in Russia from the 19th to the early 20th centuries. The text presents a variety of viewpoints from broad literary and philosophical contexts and underlines Goethe's influence on the development of the Russian culture. This article also notes core research tendencies in the 19th century critical literature on Goethe's works which became a foundation for the modern understanding of the great german poet's and thinker's creative heritage.
