The article describes the functional semantics of verbs of being-existence, used in the speech of Russian dialect speakers living in the area of Don dialects, in settlements with mixed population. The authors determine the range of lexical units recorded in the speech of informants, reveal conditions for the implementation of regularly used meanings of verbal units for the expression of the existence and the process of life, the location, or the presence of someone somewhere, staying in a location, habitat, the presence of something, realization of the event. The article reveals the status of the studied means involved in the field structure of dialect speakers' lexis on features relevant to the core and periphery of the mentioned lexical space. The verbs to be and to live are characterized by the correlation to the core. These verbs express the semantics of being-existence and are distinguished by the specialization, the regularity of use in the conversation of the countryside residents and the frequency conditioned by the quantitative representation of lexical units in speech, their compatibility and formal and semantic relations. It was proved that the periphery of dialect speakers' lexis is formed by the verbs denoting different shapes and stages of being as well as by lexical and semantic variants of core lexems complicated by additional senses. The periphery also includes the prefix and confix derivatives from the verbs to be and to live, realizing one of the features - non-specialization, non-regularity, non-frequency.
