The purpose of the article is to study the glamorous melancholy, which is formed today by the ideology of glamor and the media environment replicating its values. After analyzing the text of K. Juhannison “The History of Melancholia”, according to which in each cultural and historical epoch a personal kind of melancholia is formed, the author puts forward a hypothesis about the existence of glamorous melancholy based on fears in modern times. The analysis of the sociocultural situation, based on the phenomenological method, led to the conclusion that the life of a modern person manipulated by glamorous standards is insured. Among the significant fears are the fears of non-compliance of one’s own appearance with glamorous standards, old age, as expressed in Dorian Gray’s syndrome, and death. The author was able to update the problematics of melancholia, presenting a new material on the studied topic. The terms “glamorous melancholia”, “Dorian Gray syndrome” and “Dunning-Kruger effect” are introduced into the scientific circulation of social philosophy and philosophy of culture, allowing to diagnose the sociosphere and personality from a philosophical point of view.
