The article deals with correlation of the two key trends of the modern times - globalization and modernization. Each of the conceptions is a central one accordingly in the dependence theories and the development theories, which make the two different variants of interpretation of the macrosocial changes. The author discusses the importance of the development theories in comprehension of the modernization processes in the context of globalization.
