Global issues and the geographical education in Russia

Global understanding in the modern world is impossible without the development of a global education system. Education is one of the main means of affirming a deeper and more harmonious path of human development, one that will enable us to fight against poverty, discrimination, illiteracy, oppression and war. The most important goal of geography in the Russian school is the formation of an integral image of the world by means of obtaining geographical knowledge and skills. Fundamentalization of education is based on the knowledge and skills that form the basis of the world outlook, the general culture of youth and that are necessary for the perception of the scientific world view. In the new realities of social life, in the conditions of greater mobility of the world's population, the individual finds himself in a new social environment, and often faces a situation of moral choice. Therefore, the second important task of education is to form the students' world outlook based on a system of universal human values, as well as national identity, social responsibility and multicultural tolerance, as well as awareness of one's role in a holistic, diverse and rapidly changing world...
