The paper presents results of clinical and biochemical study of 23 patients with paranoid schizophrenia against antipsychotic therapy. Patients with symptoms of tardive dyskinesia presented with significant decrease in number of reduced glutathione in blood and index of ratio of reduced glutathione to oxidized glutathione. Lipid peroxidation in terms of malondialdehyde and catalase activity did not differ in patients with adverse movement disorders and in their absence. Indices of glatuthione allow prediction risk of tardive dyskinesia and may be used as additional paraclinical criteria.
