The collective portrait of the community of mining engineers, highly respected and influential in pre-revolutionary Russia, becomes increasingly bright and clear whenever another studied biography adds up. The discovery of hitherto unknown archival documents has disclosed the destiny of another member. Konstantin Egorov’s name is imprinted in the history of the educational institutions he graduated from, the institutions he worked for, and the history of Russia of the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The article focuses on the events which affected his life and people who facilitated the formation of his personality. As a university student, he started cooperation with the Peter the Great Geological and Mineralogical Museum of the Imperial Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg, participated in forming collections on mineralogy and paleontology, he became an ardent collector of minerals. He made acquaintance of such out standing scientists as Alexander Fersman, Vladimir Vernadsky, Vladimir Iossa and others. A graduate of the two institutes in St. Petersburg, the Mining Institute and Archaeological Institute, he was the first to discover dinosaurs on the territory of Russia. The authors conclude that his first discovery of dinosaurs in Russia was not accidental. Profound education and knowledge, professionalism, enthusiasm, his eagerness to serve to science and Russia, even when being in emigration, distinguished Egorov as a worthy representative of the community of mining engineers of Russian Empire. His biography is not completed yet. Hopefully, time will come when the last page of his biography will be opened revealing his life in emigration.
