The city as a subject of theoretical and methodological comprehension of trends in modern urban science (the case of Ulan-Ude)

The article presents an analysis of trends in methods of modern urban studies. This discipline includes an unstable subject of research, use of a large set of methods for scientific problems. It leads to the need for appeal to philosophical reflection in relation to the methodology of city research. We have analyzed the works of leading foreign theorists of the city in two aspects: "urban space" and "life style". It should be noted that there are differences between the approaches of Western and Russian urbanists, as exemplified by the categories "way of life" and "life style". The article considers Ulan-Ude as a subject of theoretical and methodological comprehension of trends in modern urban studies.
