Ghost cities in the context of economic strategies for the development of remote areas of Russia

An acute economic and socio-demographic problem associated with the development of the territories of the Far North, Siberia, the Far East is considered, where, due to an ineffective economic strategy, city-forming enterprises are closed and production reduced. As a result, in the place of a considerable number of once prosperous cities and towns, where full-fledged life was raging, there are literally ruins. The reasons for this situation are shown, illustrations are given for the example of Vorkuta. Proposals for the perspective of single-industry towns are substantiated.
