The public transportation in cities of the Russian Empire in the eve of and during the World War I are characterized. The number of cabs has been reduced due to the horse requisitions. The bus communication has been abandoned at all. The tramway systems were in bad conditions by the end of the war due to overcrowding of trams in the biggest cities, deficit of fuel at the electric power stations, free rides of soldiers, lack of the new equipments and tramcars from abroad.
