The article raises the question of the importance of the development of physical culture and sports at the present time. The role of public authorities in this sphere is determined. The state program on development of sports in the region is considered. The measures implemented by state bodies in the framework of increasing the interest of the young generation in maintaining a healthy lifestyle are presented.
