Censorship in the work of the main public library of Primorye as a means of information restriction

The article is based on the analysis of documents, mass media publications and previously unknown archival documents from Primorsky regional archives. The author traces the role of state control as a powerful means of limiting information in the activity of Primorsky regional public library named after M. Gorky throughout its 125-year history. There were various forms of control: control over the content of the library collections, approval of the documents regulating the work of the library, the weeding of "ideologically harmful" literature.
