Graphic illustration and its role in the weekly magazine "Illustrated Russia" (1924-1939)

The article analyzes the visual content in the weekly “Illustrated Russia” (Paris, 1924-1939). It consisted of photos and graphic illustration. The article presents various genres of graphic illustration. Special attention is paid to the cartoons. The comics are singled out as the most frequently used genre modification. The process of creolization, the combination of the iconic and verbal components are the subject of research in this work.
