The authors consider the origin of the institution of civil action, as well as its effect today. Also in their study, the authors reveal the categories of persons who may be civil defendants. The authors come to the conclusion that in addition to individuals, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, public authorities and owners of increased danger can act as defendants.
