The book under review is written in the genre of non-fiction - nonfictional documentary prose. It is a collection of historical and journalistic essays on the fate of the Moscow People’s Militia divisions formed in the initial period of the Great Patriotic War, in the summer and autumn of 1941. The author of the book is the son of a soldier of the Second Division of the Moscow Militia of the Stalin District of Moscow. Based on specific life situations reflected in the memoirs of the participants in the hostilities, he makes it possible to feel the greatness of the feat, the heroism and the tragedy of the fate of the militia soldiers. The author manifests a subjective yet document-supported to a variety of factors, ranging from the selection and structuring of the material to the assessment of the events. The book is illustrated with photographs of the Moscow Militia of 1941, banners of the militia groups, monuments of the militia divisions at the places of their deployment and battles.
