Flat graves of the scythian period near the village of Ksizovo in the upper reaches of the Don

Near the village Ksizovo (Zadonsk District, Lipetsk Region) for the first time a burial-ground was found in the forest-steppe region of the upper reaches of the Don, consisting of flat graves dating from the 5 th - 3 rd centuries BC. Ten of the published burials constitute inhumations containing rather limited set of grave goods, these burials should be linked with the neighbouring fortified settlement and a rural settlement of a Scythian-like type. They added significantly to the number of ground burials in the region and provide a picture of the funerary traditions of the settled population in the Scythian era.
