Gudoshnics on the palace records of the Petrovsky epoch (the beginning of the XVIII century)

This article is devoted to reconstruct the image of the Gudoshnic on the basis of the documents of the palace records of the era of Peter the Great. As a result of the study, we managed to identify a group of the Gudoshnic, to determine the range of their main functions, as well as to restore their appearance and features of the performance on the Gudok. Despite the typical transformation of the Petrine era and the orientation towards the West European musical culture with its musicians and instruments, the Gudok still retained its popularity in the palace musical life of the first half of the 18th century.
