This article examines the business reputation of the enterprise, interpretation of this concept by various authors. The formation and historical development of goodwill is studied. The work of the authors who conducted the first studies, which served as a stimulus for further scientific developments in this direction, is analyzed. On the example of a number of international ratings, the indicators that are part of goodwill, their significance and impact on the performance of the enterprise, both as separate factors and as elements of goodwill, are considered.
