Characterizaion of the asthenic pathology in persons affected by chronic radiation exposure

The assessment of mental, neurophysiological and clinical-psychological status has been conducted in chronically exposed persons with asthenic disorders. 56 persons were examined with the use of clinical, instrumental (EEG) and clinical psychological methods. The comparison group consisted of 50 persons residing on the territories of the Chelyabinsk Oblast that were not radioactively contaminated. Organic asthenic disorders with manifest dyssomnic (p=0.04), asthenic and astheno-depressive syndromes (p=0.03) predominated in the structure of the mental disorders in exposed patients. More severe changes in bioelectric brain activity were determined. The obtained results could be used in diagnostic and curative interventions in persons affected by radiation exposure. They also could be used as a substantiation of the preventive treatment of exposed persons.
