The article explores the problem of designing and applying competence-oriented tasks in educational practice. The main ideas of the competence approach, its specificity and the conditions of implementation in higher vocational education are determined. The analysis of scientific and methodological literature from the viewpoint of the organization of the educational process in the context of a competence approach is presented. The methods of designing competency-oriented classes are presented, the typology of competence-oriented assignments is clarified, the methods for conducting lecture, seminar and practical exercises are specified.
