Soybean is the most important industrial (oil-producing) leguminous crop around the world. The most important reserve to increase the level and stability of soybean production in the country is the use of new productive varieties with improved biochemical characteristics. The research staff of the Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture conducts systematic search for high-quality and productive soybean accessions valuable for selective breeding. The research goal was to identify the germplasm of higher grain quality and soybean yield to increase breeding effectiveness. In spite of the difficulties in identifying both highly productive and high qualitative samples due to the inverse relation of protein content and oil content (r = -0.020…0.470), as well as yield and grain protein content (r = -0.538). In a period from 2011 to 2016, we selected the following intensive samples: a line L 52/10 (high stability of a response on different environment conditions on yield and quality) and a variety LMF (high stability on yield); and extensive samples: lines L 59/11 and L 52/11 (high stability on oil content and yield), and cultivars Maple Ridge and Bara (high stability on yield and quality).
