Characteristics of common toponyms in the language and culture of Japan

Toponymy in the structure of the Japanese language and culture is presented in the article from the standpoint of etymology, history, hieroglyphics. Stable toponymic constructions are fixed in the names of mountains, rivers, islands, cities and castles, descriptive and possessive names prevail among them. Partially common toponyms of Japan are included as examples in the "Hieroglyphics" module, developed for the training of teachers of Oriental studies and specialists in the field of Oriental languages and culture. Toponymic terms of the Japanese language are the most conservative and historical. Universal knowledge of hydronyms, oronyms, oikonyms, urbanonyms, insulonyms, horonyms, is mandatory for mastering within the framework of the discipline "Hieroglyphics" for students of Oriental writing.
