In this article, the author tried to consider the main reasons for signing the Helsinki Final Act of August 1, 1975, between the leading parties of the world political framework: the most important countries of Western Europe and the USSR with the participation of the United States. Also, the author tried to give a brief description of the Act itself and the general situation of the main participating countries at the time of signing this Agreement. In this article, the author presents his thoughts on the Helsinki Act, as a positive phenomenon in the world political game on the one hand, with a contradictory result: on a short-term basis, as an undoubted success of Soviet diplomacy, and in the long term, the basis for the defeat of the USSR in the Cold War and, as a consequence, The collapse of the Soviet state. In addition, the Helsinki Act also acts as an important document regulating relations between countries in Europe exclusively on equal footing and peaceful grounds, but at the same time as an instrument of the so-called "double standards" of the West and propaganda in the arena of world media. The Helsinki Final Act was intended to concretize and develop the basic ideas of the United Nations as applied to the international realities of the time. The Helsinki Act, like the UN Charter, was based on principles of equal value, implying the full implementation of all parties without exception. But later, the difference in the interpretation of the articles of the act became clear: each of the countries that signed this international Act had its reasons and promises to sign the Agreement, which served as the reason for further mutual misunderstanding to suit its own interests.
