The efficacy of conservative treatment of 188 patients with histologically-verified primary oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancer was analyzed. Two treatment methods were used: the conventional radiation therapy (2 Gy, 5 times a week) and chemoradiation therapy (dose fractions of 1 Gy + 1,5 Gy with 4-6-hour interval) up to a total dose of 60 Gy. The data obtained showed that chemoradiation therapy was more effective than the standard radiation therapy with regard to objective responses and complete tumor regressions.
