Surgical treatment of patients having cancer of pancreatoduodenal region complicated with obstructive jaundice

The article contains the results of examination and surgical treatment of 259 patients with cancer of pancreatoduodenal region, complicated with obstructive jaundice, in the period from 2000 to 2004. 213 patients had pancreatic head cancer, 46 patients had duodenum papillary cancer. Double step intervention in pancreatoduodenal region cancer was applied. Various types of palliative operations were performed in 101 patients. Postoperative complications were noted in 8,8%. Overall operative mortality was 6,6%; after radical operations it was 9,7% and after palliative procedures it was 4,7%.
