Surgical treatment of postoperative pseudoaneurysm of inner carotid artery

A patient with postoperative pseudoaneurysm of inner carotid artery complicated with transient ischemic attacks was observed. Two months after surgical treatment, aneurysm resection and replacement of inner carotid artery with synthetic prosthesis the reconstruction area turned out to be only partially covered with vitalized tissue. The patient was successfully re-operated - the inner carotid artery was replaced with an autovein graft. Aneurysm development might have been caused by a chronic infective process. The literature was also analyzed.
