The purpose of our research was to study a complex of economically valuable traits of released and new hybrids of oil sunflower on a competitive testing plot. The experiment was conducted on fields of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops (Krasnodar) in 2017-2018. Four released and nine new sunflower hybrids were used as an object of a research. As a control we involved three-way sunflower hybrid Kubansky 930. The most hybrids, besides Achilles and CMS Kubansky 86 x VK 303, showed a reliable increase by seed yield compared to control. The same figures were for oil yield but the hybrids CMS Kubansky 86 x VK 303 also exceeded the control. The most stable by seed yield were the following hybrids of VNIIMK breeding: SL05 4154 A x VK 303 and SL12 3660 A x VK 303, both in 2017 and 2018. We determined a reliably high positive correlation between the traits ‘head diameter' and ‘a period from emergence to flowering', negative one -between the traits ‘1000 seeds weight' and ‘a period from emergence to flowering', ‘1000 seed weight' and ‘head diameter'. Due to competitive trial we selected the hybrids for ecological and state testing: SL05 16 A x VK 303, SL05 4154 A x VK 303, SL13 2280 A x VK 303, and SL06 2545 x VK 303.
