The article is dedicated to the study of various aspects of the ethnography of Mongolic-speaking tribes of Central Asia, as documented by P. K. Kozlov during the Mongol-Sichuan Expedition of 1907-1909. The primary focus is on the materials collected by the researcher regarding the economic activities and food of these tribes. The article presents Kozlov’s records on both productive and extractive economic sectors among the Mongolic-speaking population. The study highlights the researcher’s data on nomadic livestock farming methods, herd composition, and the types of animals raised in different natural and ecological zones of Mongolia and northern China. It also explores the agricultural practices of these tribes, the specifics of their farming techniques, and the types of crops cultivated. The role of hunting in the economic life of these tribes is examined, including hunting methods and the species of animals hunted. Additionally, the article presents Kozlov’s collected information on the food of Mongolic-speaking tribes, its varieties, and methods of preparation. The research emphasizes the historiographical value of Kozlov’s materials in characterizing and studying the economic activities and food culture of these Central Asian tribes.
