Church building as a ministry of the Joseph-Volotsky Monastery in the late 19th – early 20th centuries

The work was carried out on the basis of the preserved materials of the foundation 1192 «Iosifov Volokolamsk (Volotsky) Monastery, Volokolamsk district of Moscow province» of the RGADA, other sources and thematic literature. It is shown that assistance to other churches and monasteries in the construction and improvement of temples is an important component of the charitable activities carried out by the Joseph-Volotsky Monastery in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This type of charity of monasteries, and of this monastery, has so far been practically unexplored and little known.
