Based on the analysis of V. Ya. Shishkov’s short novel “The Wanderers” the article proves the validity of defining V. Ya. Shishkov’s creativity as Christian by ideology and also puts forward an idea that the novel was involuntarily altered because of M. Gorky’s harsh criticism of the original version.
