Подробно изложен материал об эпидемиологии, патогенезе и «родственности» нейромедиаторного обмена серотонина в центральной нервной системе при хронической боли и депрессии. Показаны нейрофизиологические предпосылки, лежащие в основе формирования хронической боли как психологической защиты индивидуума. Данный механизм позволяет «переключать» тяжелые эмоции на внутренний уровень (тело), что является одним из исходных положений в развитии психосоматического расстройства —хронического болевого синдрома
