Chronic alcoholism: visceropathology and causes of death

The study results of sudden death cases of persons having chronic internal alcoholic intoxication signs which occurred during 5 years are presented in the article. We examined systemic pathology in chronic alcoholism and causes of death. The most evident morphologic manifestations of chronic alcoholic intoxication were detected in central nervous system, cardiovascular system and gastrointestinal tract. The leading cause of death from chronic alcoholic intoxication was revealed to be acute cardiovascular collapse as the consequence of alcoholic cardiomyopathy.
