Chronotope of a ball in Russian literature (revisiting the origins of the tradition)

The purpose of the article is to identify a typology of special chronotope of a ball in Russian literature of the first half of 19th century and describe its basic plot functions. The article is written as a review, hence, it excludes the close analysis of particular texts containing ball descriptions, but assumes to fix as many as possible plot and descriptive meanings of the ball chronotope in Russian literature during the designated period.
