The chronotope of M. Tarkovsky's prose: the re-thinking of traditionalism

Бесплатный доступ

The article deals with the chronotope of M. Tarkovsky,s prose in the context of classical traditionalism. The chronotope of the writer's works has a ternary structure: taiga (sacral space), village (intermediate space) and city (alien space). In the late texts the ternary structure transforms in a binary one, because the village incorporates the features of the city and also functionally becomes a marginal space. The concepts of cyclicity and choice are fundamentally important for the analysis of the chronotope.

Chronotope, m. tarkovsky, the opposition of village - city, choice, traditionalism, neotraditionalism, v. rasputin, ternary structure, binary structure, patriarchal structure
