Artistic capabilities of technical physics metaphor in A. Kron's novel “Insomnia”

The article is devoted to the consideration of the specifics of the linguistic expression of the physical and technical metaphor in fiction of the 20th century. The purpose of this article is to classify the physic-technical metaphor, describe and analyze its artistic capabilities in the text. The study was carried out using analytical, classification, contextual and descriptive research techniques. The material for the study was A. Kron's novel “Insomnia”. All physic-technical metaphors found in the text were classified according to the sections of physics into metaphors mechanical, thermodynamic, electrical, astronomical and quantum. It was concluded that the physical and technical metaphor serves not only as a means of poetic depiction of reality and characters of literary heroes, but also allows the author, through already comprehended physical phenomena or principles of mechanisms, to reveal access to the mysterious nature of man.
