The article is devoted to the criminal and legal analysis of the hooligan motive of a crime based on the relevant statistics and materials of judicial practice. The authors consider the use of the hooligan motive in criminal legislation as a sign of basic and qualified corpus delicti and distinguish its essential features. As a result of the research, an algorithm of determining the hooligan motive in a committed act and criteria for its separation from extremist and personal hostile motives is suggested.
