The article represents the description of idealized cognitive model (ICM) of archetypical binary opposition LIGHT/DARK and the ways of its secondary nomination in the context of modern American political media discourse. The model is based on the thesis offered by G. Lakoff about ICM as a way of knowledge organization; theory of prototypes by E. Rosch and the ideas of Z.D. Popova, I.A. Sternin concerning cognitive interpretation and concept modelling principles.
