There is an opinion in science about the opposition of the ideals of N. A. Nekrasov and F. M. Dostoevsky, however, in their novels both writers turn to the idea of salvation and seek to express the national genre content: Nekrasov's is a folk drama, and Dostoevsky refers to the traditions of Old Russian calendar literature. Both writers develop traditions of the visionary genre and the old Russian story which shows the verification of the Holy Scriptures. Nekrasov and Dostoevsky turn to the idea of personal salvation, to the theme of God's Providence in human life, use a symmetrical composition and allusions to the New Testament. If Nekrasov does not complete these searches, then Dostoevsky's idea of salvation, an appeal to the church calendar, evangelical allusions and a parable plot allow him to take the novel to a new level, the highest form of which were his latest works The Adolescent and The Brothers Karamazov.
