The current state of the study of problems associated with the idea of justice in law requires a new reading of the classical historical and legal heritage. Therefore, the new joint work of R.F. Ismagilov and V.P. Salnikov, dedicated to the problems of the relationship between the concepts of "law" and "justice", is relevant and in demand. Despite the fact that a lot has been written on this topic, the authors managed to find their own, original approach to the topic, which, firstly, is in the interpretation of justice as an ontological foundation of law and, secondly, in the study of the works of the classics of law from this angle. The position is far from indisputable, but of course, deserves its right to exist in modern legal discourse.
