Ideological and Political Principles of Modern Conservatism and their Relevance at the Present Stage of Social Development

The article analyzes the basic principles of conservative socio-political thought. The author examines and analyzes such principles as the absence of a single universal path of development for all countries and peoples; emphasis on traditional values as a factor of successful development; faith in the need for a strong state; and finally, in the fourth, it is a religious factor as a necessary basis for the spiritual and moral development of society. The author examines common and distinct approaches to these principles in both Russian and Western European conservatism. Based on the analysis, he gives his definition of the concept of conservatism, and concludes that in the context of the reformatting of the entire world order, the ideas on which conservatism is based are especially relevant and in demand today.
