The article deals with the problems of identity. The main approaches to the definition of identity, it highlights the ambiguity of interpretations and analyzes a combination of cultural, ethnic and national identity. The author presents different points of view on the nature of the social and cultural phenomenon and proves the importance of the formation of various types of identity at the present stage of development of Russia's multicultural society.
