MALDI mass spectrometry was used to identify cyanide adducts with human serum albumin. Peptide with M H + 999.44 Da was detected in the tryptic digestion of human serum albumin, incubated with cyanide (sodium and potassium salts). As a result SCN adduct at Cys-34 are formed. The sequence Cys-Pro-Phe-Glu-Asp-His-Val-Lys was confirmed by HPLC-MS-MS analysis on ion trap.
