In this paper, the specificity and essence of the game in the interpretation of J. Heasinga is considered. The nature of the game, its significance in the formation of culture is analyzed; the preconditions for the formation of the game and their subjective nature. The author's interpretation and the principles of the phenomenon of culture as a consequence of the "game" event in the socio-cultural formation of human society are considered
