Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women worldwide. Despite the progress made in the diagnosis of breast cancer and the latest drug treatment regimens, there are still a number of unresolved problems associated with the development of tumor resistance and, as a result, the progression of the disease. One of the factors that determine the resistance of a tumor to modern treatment methods is its ability to evade the immune response. The presence of immune effector cells in the tumor characterizes the degree of intensity of the immune antitumor response and can determine the success of drug treatment, which includes standard chemotherapy, targeted therapy and therapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors.
