Immunomodulatory activity of cyclopheron in patients with cerebral glioma before surgery and in long-term period after surgery

The effect of cyclopheron on immunogram indices was studied in 29 patients with cerebral gliomas. The investigation was carried out three times: before surgery (clinically manifested tumor stage), after surgical removal of glioma (in the phase of clinical and MRI remissions) and in recurrent cerebral tumor growth. Modification of immune defense became apparent mainly in cytokine status and it was manifested by positive shifts in indices of humoral link and non-specific resistence. Maximum effect was achieved in the period of short-term tumor remission after surgical cytoreduction. Decrease in T-cell response to cyclopheron therapy in reactive cytokine expression was noted.
